- There are five different modes in the Clue app. Each mode is designed to help people with experiences or goals that are most relevant to them at the time. Here’s a brief description of each mode:
  - Clue Period Tracking. Designed for people to track their menstrual cycle experiences, get predictions, and learn more about patterns in their body. There’s both a free version and a Clue Plus version available.
  - Clue Conceive. Designed to help people get pregnant with fertile day predictions, and acts as a personal guide throughout conception. It’s part of the Clue Plus subscription.
  - Clue Tracking. Designed specifically for people who do not bleed for various reasons, allowing them to monitor experiences to uncover health patterns. There’s both a free version and a Clue Plus version available.
  - Clue Pregnancy. Designed for pregnant people who want to track their pregnancy experiences and follow fetal development. There’s both a free version and a Clue Plus version available.
  - Clue Perimenopause. Designed to help people navigate the transitional time leading up to menopause (a time known as perimenopause, which can last anywhere from a few months to around a decade). It’s part of the Clue Plus subscription.

- Mood symptoms and gut function across the menstrual cycle in individuals with premenstrual syndrome (Hannan et al., 2024)
  - Led by researchers at Johns Hopkins University, this study, the largest to date, provides important insights into the complex link between GI and mood symptoms across the menstrual cycle, particularly for individuals with premenstrual syndrome (PMS). The study analyzed data from more than 33,000 menstrual cycles over a four year period, across more than 32,000 participants, making it the most comprehensive study of its kind. Participants used Clue’s menstrual tracking app to identify and track their symptoms and opted-in to share their data anonymously for research.
  The effect of air pollution exposure on menstrual cycle health using self-reported data from a mobile health app: a prospective, observational study (deSouza et al., 2025)
  - Researchers at MIT’s Senseable City Lab and the University of Colorado Denver, in collaboration with the Clue app, have published the largest study of its kind examining the impact of air pollution on menstrual health across multiple countries. The research, just published in The Lancet Planetary Health, analyzed data from 2.2 million menstrual cycles tracked in Clue, across 230 cities in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. The study found that higher concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in the air correspond with increased frequency of menstrual cycle irregularities.
