iPill is a secure medication dispenser that helps remove barriers to Suboxone OUD therapy by offering safe, effective, at-home treatment.

      • The iPill ecosystem consists of an app connected to a pill dispenser for secure opioid storage, cloud-based medication adherence monitoring, active control dispensing, & destruction of unused pills upon tampering and prescription end. Use of iPill technology extends the safety and security of opioid use in the hospital to the home.

The iPill platform actively controls dispensing with a mobile app that only allows the prescribed person to access opioids at only the prescribed dose.  The secure iPill dispenser destroys contained pills if tampered and unused pills automatically in 90 days.  We feature cognitive behavioral therapy apps to distract opioid cravings. We monitor respiration and can call 911 if respiratory distress is detected. We collect data on opioid usage, CBT, and near-death events from the app for predictive analytics and population health management. We are preventing abuse, addiction, and diversion by securely storing, actively controlling dispensing, and safely dispose of unused opioids.

      • Opioids are triple locked in the hospital and dispensed under supervision by nurses. Yet these same opioids are sent home with patients without any type of security or dispensing controls. One in four opioid overdoses today involves children and teens. 3.3 billion pills enter society every year because 41%-71% of postoperative opioids go unused. Flushing them down the toilet has caused mussels in Washington and oysters in Chesapeake Bay to be found to be found with oxycodone. iPill is the only dispenser to offer active control dispensing, cloud based medication adherence, and destruction of unused pills at the end of the prescriptions or if the dispenser is tampered. The iPill ecosystem consists of an app connected to a pill dispenser extends the safety and security of opioid use in the hospital to the home.  Looking at iPill most will consider it a good idea. What makes this a great idea is when someone says that it should have been in place years ago. Looking forward some may also understand the future use of iPill extends beyond opioids. Looking at iPill now some may consider it a good idea, but others may see that it is a great investment. Jails, 3,300 in the US, will pay for the iPill upfront. Jails refer to OUD clinics, 14,500 in the US. We will use a revenue share model so OUD clinics can increase revenue by $30 per patient per month.

      • We did a small focus group with 9 detainees in a jail. They want to get better and were willing to use the iPill. The California Department of Corrections reduced opioid overdoses by 58% and hospitalizations by 48% in California jails and saved nearly $1 billion over 2 years. 65% of inmates are reported to have an OUD and 20% actively use opioids smuggled into jail. Upon release 75% have an opioids relapse within 3 months and 50% commit a crime under the influence of opioids or commit a crime to secure more opioids. Inmates have a 129 higher risk of opioid overdose death 2 weeks after release than the general population. The irony is that inmates can get opioids in jail but cannot get OUD treatment. iPill is working with jails in Washington state to start OUD treatment in jail and upon re-entry into society to reduce withdrawal, relapse, opioid overdose death, recidivism, and re-incarceration. No doubt this will save taxpayers even more money.
