A mobile app is a 9-week Prescription Digital Therapeutic (PDT) for chronic insomnia
Somryst is an FDA-approved prescription digital therapeutic (PDT) designed to treat chronic insomnia in adults aged 22 and older. It delivers cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) through a mobile application, providing a structured, evidence-based program over nine weeks.
CBT-I Techniques: Somryst incorporates established CBT-I methods, including sleep restriction and consolidation, stimulus control, and cognitive restructuring. These techniques aim to address maladaptive behaviors and thoughts that contribute to insomnia.
Structured Program: The therapy is divided into six core modules, each designed to be completed weekly. Patients are encouraged to maintain a daily sleep diary and adhere to personalized sleep schedules to reinforce learning and track progress.
Clinical Efficacy: Clinical trials have demonstrated that Somryst significantly reduces the severity of insomnia symptoms. Notably, over 40% of patients no longer met the criteria for insomnia after completing the program.
Accessibility: As a digital therapeutic, Somryst offers asynchronous access to CBT-I, making it a viable option for individuals who may have limited access to in-person therapy sessions.
