Digital health tools are powerful — but only when they fit your situation. The questions below come from years of clinician-curated evaluation at Digital.Health, condensed into a checklist any patient or caregiver can use.

1
Is it designed for my condition or situation?
A general wellness app may not understand a specific diagnosis. Look for tools built for the population you belong to.
2
Does it involve a clinician?
Some tools work alone; others integrate with your care team. Both are valid — know which you're getting.
3
What does it cost?
Beyond any free trial. Watch for monthly subscriptions, device fees, in-app purchases, and what happens when the trial ends.
4
Is there evidence it works?
Look for clinical studies, peer-reviewed publications, or independent validation — not just testimonials or before/after photos.
5
Is it FDA-cleared or regulated?
For tools that diagnose, treat, or measure clinical signs, regulatory status matters. Check the FDA database to verify claims.
6
Does it protect my privacy?
Read the privacy policy. Look for HIPAA compliance, data-sharing terms, and what happens to your data if the company shuts down.
7
Will it work with my existing devices and records?
Apple Health, Google Health, your patient portal, your EHR. Integration saves friction and means your data lives in one place.
8
Can I share data with my doctor?
Easily, in a format they can use. Some tools generate clean PDFs; others lock data inside their app or charge to export it.
